Stakeholders of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area in Enugu State, on Tuesday hailed the state government for ensuring that the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) conducted credible Local Government elections in accordance with the electoral laws of the country.
The stakeholders who were overwhelmed with joy on the victorious emergence of Hon. Dr. Fidelis Odo, as the Chairman elect of the council area congratulated Odo and urged him to continue with his good works at the local government.
Speaking with FirstNews, at different occasions on Tuesday in Enugu, the Chairman Traditional Rulers Council, Igbo-Eze South Local Government, His Royal Highness, Igwe Ikechukwu Okey, maintained that Odo’s quality leadership style when he held sway as Transition Chairman, made a majority of the council area to vote for him during the
Igwe Ikechukwu who commended the state government for ensuring that the electoral umpire conducted an election that was in tune with international best practices, said that Enugu state was truly in the hands of God.
“If you compare what happened on Nov. 4th which was the day we had our LG elections, you will agree with me that the days of voter apathy has gone as the people turned out en-mass to exercise their civic obligation due to the fact that electoral materials arrived polling
units across the council area on time and voters were accredited and voting exercise carried out.
“Before now we only hear of the conduct of LG elections on the radio but under Governor Ugwuanyi, we saw electoral materials and voted for candidates of our choice. This is a welcome development and I commend the state government for this achievement.” Igwe said.
Speaking also, a former State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, said that state governments that were yet to conduct their local government elections should come to Enugu and borrow the template which was used in the conduct of Nov. 4 LG elections in the state.
Asogwa said that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has again showed the stuff he was made of through his determination to lead the state to the next level adding that the Governor provided the state’s electoral umpire with all it needed to ensure a credible conduct of the local government election in the state.
Asogwa who is currently the Executive Chairman of Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) said, “You can see that 37 out of the 40 registered political parties that participated in this election have endorsed the election and equally commended the governor for ensuring that the election was free, fair and credible.

Also speaking with FirstNews, the member representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu, said that the governor has once again demonstrated capacity by the credible LG election conducted in the state.
Asadu said that he was amazed at the level of turnout during the election adding that it was a definition that the people of state are happy with the governor as their action was a show of total support to the current administration.
He commended the people of Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South federal constituency for their unwavering support to the current administration and their massive turnout during the Local Government elections adding that the government will continue to provide them with quality leadership.
Reacting to the outcome of the Nov. 4 LG election which produced him as the Chairman elect of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Fidelis Odo, said that he was grateful to the good people of the council area and gives all the glory to God almighty who made sure that the election was conducted a peaceful manner in accordance with the law.
He said, “The election was hitch free with materials distributed on time. ENSIEC demonstrated competence worthy of emulation by other government agencies.

Odo who held sway as a Transition Committee Chairman of the council was endeared to the people due to his quality leadership style, prompt payment of salaries and love for peace which earned him the title Eze-Udo by the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Igbo-Eze South Chapter.
