AKISIEC GUIDELINE FOR THE DECEMBER 2, 2017 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS IN AKWA IBOM STATE. NIGERIA

The Chairman of AKISIEC, Mr Aniedi Ikoiwak at a Press briefing in Uyo today, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 briefed the Press on the State of preparations by the electoral body for the conduct of the Saturday, December 2, 2017 Chairmanship and Councillorship elections. Key guidelines are:

Elections holds as scheduled on December 2, 2017;

Ad hoc staff trained and Electoral Officers retrained;

12 Parties participating;

900 Candidates contesting;

Non sensitive materials already deployed to the 31 LGAs;

Sensitive materials to be deployed 24 hours to election;

Voting commences 8am and closes 2pm;

Lateness disqualifies any voter;

Voters expected at polling units with Permanent Voters Card (PVC);

Only those whose names appear in the 2015 Voters Register produced by INEC would vote;

Newly registered voters are not eligible to vote;

Everyone should demonstrate peaceful conduct during exercise;

Adequate security on ground to protect persons and materials;

Accreditation and voting to go on simultaneously. Sorting, counting, collating and announcement of votes cast to follow thereafter;

AKISIEC is the only authorised body to announce election results.
