OSITA OKECHUKWU,OSHIOMHOLE & ENUGU GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARIES

When the National Chairman of APC Comrade Adams Oshiomhole cancelled the Enugu Gubernatorial Primaries on the grounds of violence, disenfranchisement of a candidate and perhaps to correct the system of the primaries to a Direct form of primaries, wild jubilations erupted in the city.

Nevertheless, not without discordant tunes from drowning elements in the party giving to subverting the wheel of justice and intimidating the poor, yet with the predilection of instigating a section of the media. The captain of the side is Osita Okechukwu,DG VON.

He has labelled the peoples Comrade an anti-Buhari character who against all logics and persuasions sabotages the interest of Mr President. With a decisive, bold and assertive leadership, the renowned Comrade has been winning souls and more importantly elections for the party in quick succession.

Mr. Osita Okechukwu – VON DG

These sustained victories are products of devoted negotiations, concessions, consensus and harmonisation of conflicting interests mainly at state levels that were left in either tatters or comatose under the watch of the former National Chairman.

Enugu had been boiling even before the State Congresses of the party due to the utterly insensitive and despotic tendencies of the former chairman of the party Mr Ben Nwoye.(Now factional chairman of his group).

He brandished vituperations, venoms and innuendos against the highly esteemed Leaders of the party and trampled on the interest of the party faithfuls. Today the party has been left balkanised and further demonized by the emergence of two leadership structures within same chapter of the party. Matters are still in courts with either side laying claims to legitimacy.

The stakeholders of the party led by the Minister For Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, Sen Ken Nnamani, Gen Okoloagu, Gen Ugwu, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Chief Gbazuagu(GNG), Sen Ayogu Eze, Barr Steve Oruruo, Chief Everest Nnaji(Odengene), Chief Ejike Njeze and others took a firm decision to adopt a Direct form of primaries after critical deliberations.

While Chief Emma Enukwu, the National Vice Chairman of the party who had a thanksgiving ceremony the next morning, Chief Osita Okechukwu, Rt Hon Eugene Odo and a few others send their apologies.

Minutes were taken and attendance signed. Any step to the contrary was a total violation of the collective decision of the stakeholders and a deliberate ploy to run into the script of PDP especially with impending litigations lined up against candidates by other aspirants within the APC family.

Will it be worth the efforts, the time and the monies squandered? Therefore the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in his honour and in conjunction with the National Working Committee of the party cancelled Enugu ‘s Gubernatorial Primaries to save the party some blushes and equally ensure that a credible and generally acceptable candidate emerges.

It was clearly obvious that the collateral damage of continuing in the wrong direction by far outweighs the collective gains .

Therefore it would be unfair to allow Chief Osita Okechukwu present his prejudices as facts for public consumption.

His perceived relevance is limited to lies on the pages of newspaper and a few clownish appearances on National television.

This is where he finds his political capital. He has no relevance beyond concocting and contriving headlines via playing into the mood of the moment. Riding on the tiger’s back, he wants to be clever by half.

He is impervious to reasoning. An unrepentant advocate of intellectual dishonesty. A hydra-headed monster notorious for his connivance with the PDP to humiliate Mr President in Enugu with only 4% in 2015 general elections.

They are on the March again, but the eyes of our impregnable and defiant National Chairman and that of our party faithfuls in Enugu shall not let them.

What Mr Okechukwu fails to understand is that the National body is fully aware of all Enugu saboteurs collecting gifts from Enugu Government House and yet masquerading as Leaders of APC Enugu chapter.

Their time is up.The price for their chosen path, sheer cruelty and sanguine disposition is loading faster than they can imagine.

I thought Mr Okechukwu and his cohorts who are APC in Abuja and PDP in Enugu would have changed by now especially with the general elections debacle of 2015 still on our minds, and the fact that he has an appointment to mitigate his personal challenges.

But they learnt nothing and forgot everything from the immediate past experience. You can’t change a people if they are determined to cleave to toxic values and pathological conduct.

He is so steeped and marooned in unbelief, evil wishes and malediction, that he has started another round of calumny against a National Chairman who has changed the momentum in favour of our great party and the Minister of Foreign Affairs that has vehemently remained with the majority of the people.

Why does he prefer the dark jungle of infamy to the light of a clear and bright day, signposted by freedom from rapacity and rebellion?.Osita Okechukwu is clearly a man of “NO GOING BACK”.Like Shakespeare’s Macbeth, he is “so far steeped in blood that should he wade no more, returning would be as tedious as to go over”.

Some people are heirs to the throne of Satan, but society celebrates and venerates them. Some have come and gone with crown of life leadership on their heads.

Well, nemesis trumps over measures. Money is good but it must be backed up by honour.Enough of the Enugu Government House politics of unholy patronages.

The latest in the series of Mr Okechukwu ‘s tantrums against the game-hanging National Chairman of our great party and the Hon Minister For Foreign Affairs bears repetitions of his nuisance standing. It has remarked his overwhelming sense of entitlement, his predilection for cutting corners, his disdain for rule and process, and his serial disregard of the precept of NOBLESSE OBLIGE.

The import of this surreptitious and rebellious attitude is that his politics and acceptability risk extinction as they increasingly nosedive through amorphousness and philistinism on the part of certain political liabilities around him.

To this extent, APC must not commit the blunder of electing Mr Osita Okechukwu as the Enugu West Senatorial Candidate, except to aver that the seat is automatically reserved for Sen Ike Ekweremmadu.

The good news is that the party has finally resorted to Direct primaries; a simple panacea to unpopularity question.

Chief Gbazuagu Nweke Gbazuagu and the flamboyant Barr Juliet Ibekaku are by miles more popular with the electorates in his domain.

Throwing verbal punches above his weight on the Minister For Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and now Comrade Adams Oshiomhole hasn’t helped the broken remains his stuttering and faltering image.

The minister is not interested in who emerges out of the gubernatorial aspirants provided that all illegible party members are allowed to vote in a credible primaries

There is a rising crescendo of euphoria and motivation on the part of the party members because of the reverse gear timely engaged by the National leadership of the party in favour of the coveted Direct primaries.

Indeed the freedom we enjoy does not run in perpetuity, but must be reclaimed by each generation. One of the truest test of integrity is its blunt refusal to be compromised.

We therefore thank our beloved Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for remaining unwavering despite a wave of discontent by a band of renegades.

The greatest genetic tragedy is that of a Lion begetting a cat.Comrade is a son of his father,an unshakable leader with the wit of a Fox,the grit, courage, character and Will of a Lion, and the oratory of an ancestral poet.

I enjoin our teeming party faithfuls to realise that our internal enemies are the political profiteers, the swindlers, the men in high and low places that seek bribes and demand gifts from the Enugu Government House in the name of APC, those that seek the party divided permanently to remain in business and those who make our great party look big for nothing in the balance of General Elections.

The era of suffering and smiling is over. The members of the party must take interest in party affairs and ask questions that allow probity and accountability in the system.

We must be able to interrogate every policy statement by the party to test the sincerity of purpose and not necessarily for cynicism or smear politics.

Thank God we have a listening National Chairman whose name is synonymous with victory.

Nothing suggests to me that APC cannot be biggest party in Enugu in terms of sphere of influence.

The magic wand that could facilitate and sustain the pending blooming of APC all over Enugu’s political landscape like green foliage during rainy season is the politics of inclusiveness . This is exactly what we stand for.
