In commemoration of 2018 Yuletide Season, the town union leadership of the 12 autonomous communities of Akpugo in Nkanu West LGA, the leadership of the constituent villages, leadership of the 5 major markets in Akpugo and the leadership of all the Kindred families of Akpugo declared support for the second term ambition of His Excellency, Rt Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor of Enugu.

FirstNews reports that the unprecedenteded gathering of the good people of Akpugo took place on December 27 2018.

Speaking while welcoming attendees to the gathering, an illustrious son of the town and the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Enugu State, Hon. Sam Ogbu-Nwobodo, the current administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has effectively considerred the interest and plight of Akpugo community in the programmes and policies of the state government.

He said that the endorsement was their own way of saying thank you to the governor for his gesture and magnanimity to Akpugo community and Nkanu West LG at large.

They also endorsed their son, Chief Nnoli Nnaji, the PDP Candidate for Nkanu east/ west House of Representatives.

The commissioner explained that he convoked the forum, hosted it at his country home, to bring the grassroot leaders of his people together in unity and the true spirit of Christmas.

He thanked the Enugu State Governor for supporting the emergence of their illustrious son, Hon. Nnoli Nnaji as the PDP candidate for Nkanu East and West Fed. Constituency and solicited the support of his people for the Governor and all PDP candidates.

Addressing the attendees that included also some notable indegines of the town, the PDP  candidate for Nkanu East and West Fed Constituency, Chief Hon. Nnoli Nnaji while thanking the Governor for his love for Akpugo, called on all to imbibe the spirit of love for one another to move Akpugo, Nkanu West LGA and Enugu State forward adding “if elected I will offer an era of purposeful and unifing representation.”

In his presentation of a motion which signified the high point of the gathering, a former Federal Commissioner at the Public Complaints Commission, Hon Afam Nnaji declared: “We the people of Akpugo in appreciation of the construction of Ndiagu Akpugo Rd., rehabilitation of Ameze water scheme, appointments of sons and daughters of the town as Commissioner, Chairman Local Government Service Commission, and Executive Secretary, Local Government Pensions Board among other appointments too numerous to mention, are  unanimous in endorsing His Excellency Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for a second term in office and this will ensure the continuation and consolidation of the developmental strides and positive economic development of the state”.

They also endorsed their son, Chief Nnoli Nnaji, the PDP Candidate for Nkanu east/ west House of Representatives.

Seconding the motion, the President General of Ndiuno Uwani autonomous community Akpugo, Chief Moses Aniemeka opined that the unparalleled peace that exists in Enugu State needs to continue, and that this cannot happen if the Governor is not reelected in office.

The good people of Akpugo unanimously approved the  endorsement of the re-election of the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the election of their son, Chief Nnoli Nnaji, the candidate of PDP for Nkanu East/ West House of Representatives.

The also resolved to work for the election of all the PDP candidates, including Senator Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani and Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu.

In a remark, an elder statesman Chief Paul Igweshi, the Deputy President General, Ihunekwagu autonomous community, thanked everyone that attended the all important event more especially the host, Hon. Barr. Sam Ogbu-Nwobodo, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Enugu State.
