…urges Ndi-Enugu to adopt same in Governorship/State Assembly Election
The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) Enugu State Chapter, has commended the good people of Enugu State for their peaceful conduct experienced during the 2019 Presidential/ National Assembly Elections in the state urging that same conducts should be repeated in the March 9th Governorship/State Assembly Elections.
They maintained that the spate of killings and Violence experienced in other parts of the country during the February 23rd Presidential/NASS Elections was so alarming that it cannot be described free, fair and credible elections adding that the case was different in Enugu state.
In a press statement signed by the Chairman of CUPP Enugu state chapter, Hon. Festus Ogbonna, the group did not only describe conduct of the 2019 Presidential/NASS election in Enugu state as free, fair and credible but further maintained that Ndi-Enugu showed a great maturity during the conduct of the said election.
“We are very happy with the way and manner the good people of Enugu state conducted themselves during the 2019 Presidential/NASS elections unlike what was experienced in other neighbouring states with records of many deaths as a result of the same election.
“We are not taking the peaceful conduct experienced in Enugu during the said election for granted and that is why we decided to commend the good and peace loving people of Enugu state for that show of uncommon maturity and respect for electoral rules.” CUPP Enugu State Chapter said.
They said that the peaceful conduct of the election was a product of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s show of political ecumenism and accommodation in his leadership of the state which has tremendously eradicated politics of violence, acrimony and do-or-die affairs that was the case before now.
While commending security agencies in the state for being unbiased and professional during the elections, CUPP urged them to maintain such tempo in the March 9th governorship election in the state.
“We call on the good people of Enugu state to massively come on the 9th of March to cast their votes for their preferred candidates in a peaceful manner in line with the electoral laws.” The group added. 000
