Barr Nestor Ezeme, the Executive Chairman, Enugu State Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), has said that the Federal Government 2019 Educational Award on Model Secondary School Nsukka, is a fallout of the various educational interventions by the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi led administration in the state.
Recall that Model Secondary School, Nsukka, in Enugu State, on Saturday, emerged the 5th best school in public category for the 2019 President’s Teachers & Schools Excellence Award (PTSEA) of the Federal Ministry of Education.
The prestigious educational award, was conferred on the school at the Eagle Square, Abuja, by the Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, sequel to the general assessment of infrastructure, E-Library, Quality Teaching & Learning in Public Secondary Schools in Nigeria by the Federal Ministry of Education.
Ezeme who received the said award on behalf of the school at the Eagle Square, Abuja, said that the various educational interventions by Gov Ugwuanyi’s administration tremendously ensured the overhauling of all classroom blocks at Model Secondary School, Nsukka, construction of dormitories and dining hall with state-of-the-art facilities.
According to the PPSMB Chairman, other pivotal interventions by the Governor include “Installation of ICT/ E-Library through the works department of Enug Post Primary Schools Management Board and recruitment and training of quality teachers.
“These developments in the educational sector of the state led to the excellent performance of the school’s JSS3 and SS3 students in junior and senior WAEC, respectively among others.”
Ezeme commended the governor for his commitment towards taking the educational sector to the next level adding that in due time more effects of his interventions in the educational sector will be appreciated as more schools in the state will keep emerging top in different assessments.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Nwanneka Onah, Principal Model Secondary School Nsukka, Mr. Ezugwuorie and the Secior Prefect of the school were among the state government’s delegation that were in Abuja for the award ceremony.
