Abuja, July 7, 2022 (NAN) Prof Philip Afaha, the Director of Abuja leadership Centre, has expressed the institution’s readiness to partner with the National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN), in the enlightenment and promotion of occupational safety and health of Nigerian workers in their workplaces.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Afaha made the commitment when he received Dr Festus Daniel, the President, NISCN at the University of Abuja Leadership Centre premises on Wednesday.
According to the don, “our institution is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence through formidable pedagogical approaches to learning.
“Academic engagement at the Abuja Leadership Center is strongly research oriented and undergirded by intense exposure to conceptual frameworks as well as analytic tools consistent with the Center’s institutional culture of critical interrogations of hegemonic and conventional theories.
“This is with a view to contributing to and expanding the capacity of the structures and epistemological pivots in explaining Nigeria and by extension Africa’s existential governance and leadership challenges.
“As a partner therefore, we will focus on ensuring that we enlighten the public by the inclusion of occupational safety and health courses into our curriculum as a way of assisting the NISCN in its enlightment campaign.
“It is very critical that Nigerian workers are safe in their workplaces and I want to assure you that the Abuja Leadership Center, a TETFUND Center of Excellence in Public Governance and Leadership will give you the needed moral and educational and technical support to deliver on the mandate of the Council,” he said.
Earlier, National President NISCN, Dr Daniel said the council required the support of the institution to help the council deliver on its mandate of safeguarding the occupational safety, health and welfare excellence in Nigeria.
“I am aware that the Abuja Leadership Center, TETFUND Center of Excellence in Public Governance and Leadership, takes seriously its institutional values, including integrity of all associated with it and all processes related to its operations.
“NISCN is therefore delighted to partner with your highly respected institution and we are hopeful and believe strongly that this partnership will yield positive results, as education is an integral part of the growth and development of any nation,” he said.
NAN also reports that the highlight of the epoch collaborative meeting was the decoration of Prof. Afaha by the NISCN president as a worthy Ambassador of the Council. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
