Barr John Nwobodo has emerged the Governorship Candidate of the Accord Party Enugu State chapter for the 2023 gubernatorial election in the State.
This followed the delegates’ primary election held in Enugu on Tuesday by the party.
In his acceptance speech, Nwobodo, who was the sole candidate of the party at the primary described his emergence as salvation for the people of the State.
“I stand on this ground to declare that Salvation has come to Enugu State, ” he said.
According to him, Enugu State was in dire need of transformational leadership, adding that, the current government of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had failed woefully since it’s inception in 1999.
“We are still where we were 23 years ago. Nothing has changed, we have been deceived for too long. It is time for the total liberation of our people, ” he said.
The candidate added that the party was ready to take over the mantle of leadership from the PDP in the State.
He said the AP Government would be a government for the common man and urged the residents of the State to vote massively for the party in 2023.
Nwobodo charged both party members and other eligible voters to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and be ready to vote out the PDP in 2023.
“You must get your PVCs to be ready to vote for Accord Party for meaning governance.
“We must unite to end misrule, misgovernance and bad leadership in 2023. My weapon; your weapon and our weapon is the PVC,” he said.
Earlier, Mrs Chinaza Nwekeke, Chairman of the Special State Congress Planning Committee disclosed that 140 delegates participated in the primary.
The election which was done by affirmation was witnessed by observers from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
